About | Laura Walker Baird

Laura Walker began her career studying art history in Venice, Italy. Returning to the states, she honed her design and antique skills assisting an interior designer and well-known antique dealer in Atlanta. Soon after, Laura opened her own design business that flourished in Atlanta until moving to London, UK. There she worked to transform the homes of other expatriates. While living in London, Laura exported containers of antiques back to the U.S., combining an American sensibility with a European aesthetic. After four years in the UK, Laura relocated to Milan, Italy, where she taught design classes and offered a courier service to English speaking dealers looking for antiques in Italy. Following several years in Italy, Laura Walker Ltd. was opened in Atlanta, an interior design studio with directly imported Italian antiques. Laura Walker Ltd. is accessible design with unique style and function. Laura's publications include features and articles in Beautiful Homes, Better Homes and Gardens, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Jezebel Magazine, Custom Home Builders, Papercity, The Peach, and Decorating. She is a featured designer for TBS' Movie and A Makeover.

Her most recent endeavor is a 4,000 sq ft. showroom, Verde Home, in Atlanta's Westside, voted Best of Eco-Chic by Atlanta Magazine. The showroom features Tibetan rugs, organic upholstery, antiques, and accessories.

We have entitled our design for the Great Room at Greenhaven as “Forest Night”. With a running theme of natural reclaimed comfort, our design creates a casual and relaxed environment that features environmentally friendly products. The pieces we are using in Greenhaven come from our own Verde Home collection range from reclaimed materials, locally crafted items, antiques, and organic upholstery. We have used the colors of the outdoors and the natural surroundings as our inspiration throughout the room.

There are two products in particular that are very special in our room. The first are two console tables made by a local craftsman, Skylar Morgan. He used reclaimed beams from the White Provisions building and low VOC finishes in order to fashion a pair of exquisite tables. Our design also features a colorful rug hand loomed in Nepal that has been made with renewable wool without using any heavy metals used in the dyes. The upholstery of the sectional in the middle of the room is 100% natural latex and is covered in organic un-dyed wool. The wood frame is also FSC certified.
