About | Kristi Westlake
Kristi Westlake, a "Georgia Peach", was born and raised in Newnan, Georgia, a small town just south of Atlanta. After graduating from The Art Institute of Atlanta, she founded Westlake Design Studio. Always striving for a new and better way, Kristi continued her education by researching green design and achieving her LEED Accreditation. Incorporating sustainable practices into her design approach allows her to introduce innovative alternatives to interior spaces. Kristi integrates sustainable practices into every project by carefully analyzing the space, its occupants, and the activities performed in the space. Materials and products are carefully considered in regards to their effects on the end user and the environment.
Westlake Design Studio was recently featured in the 2008 Woodbury Christmas Tour of Homes.
The Home Office design displays an array of "greenness". The beautiful wood flooring is made from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood and finished with a natural, non-toxic coating. Secondly, the walls are painted with zero VOC paint. Multiple windows allow for ample daylighting, all of which are dressed with hand woven organic linen and nettle. Beautifully crafted custom cabinetry is certified by the KCMA's (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association) Environmental Stewardship Program. Gorgeous handmade furniture is crafted from reclaimed wood and bamboo. Artwork is framed and matted using FSC wood pulp and recycled materials. Plumbing fixtures are WaterSense rated and lighting fixtures are Energy Star rated. Countertops are made from recycled, non-toxic ingredients. All products and materials were carefully considered in regards to their effects on the end user and the environment.
