About | Alexis K. Veremakis
With an artistic elegance and young, fresh perspective, Alexis Veremakis has embarked upon an interior design career that is limitless in its possibilities.  Melding her background of fine art, illustration, and 3D design, Alexis lends her talents to all aspects of the creative process offering clients a full spectrum of services.

Alexis got her start in high-end residential design, but after graduating Cum Laude from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2005 with a BFA in Interior Design, she really began her career, by becoming an Associate Designer at one of Atlanta's most prestigious design firms.  There Alexis became an invaluable asset to the firm, hailed for her expertise in color theory and innovative ideas, and successfully managed several local and national model home and hospitality projects.  Alexis' talents allowed the company to expand in 2006 when she established the firm's in-house interior illustration department.  As the principal illustrator, Alexis created both 2D and 3D illustrations to help client's better market their projects and to help the company better land jobs.

In her career, Alexis was encouraged to incorporate sustainable design into each project and had the opportunity to be involved in the design of EcoManor, the Southeast's first LEED certified home. Along with her LEED experience, Alexis has designed numerous EarthCraft certified projects and has established many invaluable relationships in the eco-community.  Alexis' passion for all things green has challenged her to incorporate eco-friendly practices into her own daily life and she shares her eco-knowledge with friends and clients in hopes that they will follow in her reduced carbon footprint.  She loves being unpredictable with eco-design, always thinking outside the box to break the mold of what green and eco is assumed to look like.

To further her commitment to environmental design, in 2008 Alexis joined Atlanta's premiere eco-lifestyle store, ecoEMPORIUM, taking on the role as Assistant Manager.  Alexis has helped grow the young store to become Atlanta's definitive resource for sustainable home décor and accessory items, as well as eco-friendly jewelry, clothing, and gifts.  Thanks to her design background, Alexis adds a new element to in-store merchandising and the retail world.
An Atlanta native, Alexis has had a front row seat to the evolution of the great city and remains on the forefront of industry trends, emerging markets, and design resources and works as a freelance designer and illustrator to share this unique perspective.

Mud Room, First Floor Powder Room and Back Hall - Vintage & Vivacious...Modern & Mysterious

With a love for true vintage and mid-century modern, the Mudroom, Powder Room, and Back Hall retain the charm and drama of vintage and modern while still being eco-friendly in unique ways.  Being high traffic areas, the spaces need to flow together, yet still stand in a class all their own.

Non-toxic and organic materials are highly important for the eco-design, but having an appreciation for natural and existing surroundings lies as the basis for my motif.  Thinking outside the box of what I can do and how it can be done makes for classic yet cutting edge style.  Items that would be trash or passed over by another are used to cut down on the carbon footprint of manufacturing and shipping and allow for less materials to end up in landfills.  They also add to the building blocks of my design proving that repurposed and green doesn't have to be drab or predictable.

The Mudroom serves as a unique second entrance for guests with elements of colorful family comfort, such as the cozy bench and cheerful art.  Bold surprises also take precedence with the vintage accessories and clean lines.  Flowing from the Mudroom, the generously sized Back Hall allows for the perfect extension and invitation into the space.  It provides stunning features through the art and furniture, while sticking with the repurposed, vintage-modern theme.  The Powder Room is a sweet and whimsical dreamland of sorts with fun and flirty details that reflect nature.  Welcoming the mid-century inspiration from the other areas with dramatic accents, adds a little rebellion to the small space.

Being the daughter of an antique collector and dealer I have an affinity for all that has been used. I love pieces that have already served some sort of purpose in this world.  It gives me great excitement to allow certain items to be recognized once again by giving them their old life back or utilizing them in a new, innovative way.

As a vintage and retro lover and an enthusiast for hunting down those great extraordinary finds, my design is an extension of my admiration for the beautiful in the odd and the old.  The surprising freshness of those items gives the design an unpredictable quality while being eco-friendly in the most original and classic way.
