Greenhaven's James Hardie's fiber cement siding is not only beautiful, long lasting, and durable but it also resists termites and other harmful pests. This siding will require less maintenance and less paint than wood siding. And with manufacturing facilities a short distance from the job site this product has a reduced carbon footprint in the supply chain.
At Greenhaven we used a combination of James Hardie siding products and the James Hardie Artisan Series.

1. What influenced your company to go green? Throughout its history, James Hardie has been committed to helping its customers build better, sustainable projects. Above all, a green product can be defined as one that lasts, is durable and requires little or no maintenance. James Hardie products deliver in accordance with this definition, which is why building science experts have consistently touted James Hardie products as “green” for years. 2. What has your company done to go green? With the only dedicated fiber cement research and development center in North America, James Hardie has taken the lead in developing sustainable products, setting industry quality standards and partnering with industry leaders in Building Science to better understand the role our products play in the building envelope. In addition to winning numerous product awards, James Hardie has also created a unique Best Practice Installation Program with specialists across the country to train crews to ensure long-term quality and durability. 3. What are the environmental benefits? James Hardie products are made from an environmentally responsible formulation of wood fibers, sand, cement and water. The building system in which they are used can specifically lend itself toward higher quality, more durable, energy efficient homes. In many areas, consumers even receive an insurance discount because the products resist flame spread and can be installed to resist hurricane-force winds. Consumers love the look of wood but don’t want to constantly maintain and replace it. James Hardie products achieve the perfect balance - enabling the beauty and character of wood but also providing the low maintenance, durability and safety benefits consumers want. 4. Give us one interesting green fact about your company/product! James Hardie siding is featured on many “Green” projects throughout the country – exclusively specified on “The Highest LEED Rated Building in America,” The Robert Redford Building for the Natural Resources Defense Council in Santa Monica, California and the “Katrina Cottages” designed for the Gulf Coast rebuild.
